We started our 24hour travel home today, but not before getting the most of the sun! We get offered fresh coconuts by the workers as they cut them down. They literally hack the top off then put a straw in it!
We swam with dolphins! I’ve never done it before, and didn’t really know what to expect, but they were lovely! Like puppies, but more soggy.. and bigger. They were really playful, and seemed very happy with the trainers. They swam behind us and pushed us forward on their noses before chucking us up in theContinue reading “23/06/11”
A whole beach day today, hired a pedalo, kayaks and snorkels with my sister, all included with the hotel, it was a fun day! Only got pictures on the underwater camera which I’ll upload another time. So the pictures are my favourite 2 of the sunset we watched while eating tea at an Italian ‘themed’Continue reading “22/06/11”
Today we got a CoCo taxi (motorbike and cab) into Varadero for a wander round Parque Josone (a beautiful places with picturesque lakes). In the evening we went to the beach to watch the sunset before dinner, how romantic!
Another beach and pool day, it’s a hard life! This is one of the restaurants within the grounds, I didn’t get to go as I was ill, but my Mum and Sister loved it, and the people made the food right in front of them.
Went round Varadero in the morning before it got too hot. The picture is of the church in Varadero, we also visited the local market. It’s become really easy to get a licence to sell things from your home now, so a lot of people have craft markets in their front garden.
Another beach/pool day but also with a trip to the shop. We see these lizards all around the place, they’re very cute, but you can’t get too close before they run away up a wall or under rocks.
After doing a lot of sight seeing in Havana the next week and half were for relaxation and some sight seeing! So today was another day by the pool. The top picture is of our bungalow/flat where we were staying. And the bottom photo is off the chef at the swim up bar, another reallyContinue reading “17/06/11”
Our first full day in the second and final hotel in Varadero. The city is so small it’s connected to the rest of Cuba by a draw bridge, and in some parts is less than a mile wide!
Cuba is such a lovely and charming place. The second picture shows a key feature of the Cuban men, they’re known for their love of ladies but with a harmless attitude, everyone’s just polite and nice to you! Today was our last day before moving on to Varadero.
