We had a whole variety of weather today in London. I know as I got caught in a huge rain storm walking back from lunch today only for it to be blue skies about ten minutes later, typical. We did get this dramatic sunset though which was gorgeous.
Nic came running with me this morning! We did our fastest ever 5km when running together, not bad for getting up before 7am!
This evening we went to Westminster to meet up with Kat and Alister (my old housemates) for dinner and a couple drinks. I do love this area of London, always so bright and colourful. Lovely evening.
This year has flown by, yet at the same time seemed so long! I can’t believe it’s November already, but at the same time I can’t believe I was living in Newport only 6 months ago! After work I went for a walk around London, just as I do. I decided to go on the London Eye just before it shut – Benefits of this was it was very quiet and London was illuminated in the night time with a lovely glow. Bad side – couples, gross. Tested out iPhone 5 camera, and I’m impressed, PANORAMIC BABY!
The first day of Mum’s treat weekend started off with a trip to St James’ park so we could play/pet the noses of the squirrels! They’re very tame, and I knew she’d like it! We then went to the London Eye which is always nice, and Mum’s first time! After that we headed to Vertigo – Tower 42’s Champagne Bar in East London – the views were amazing, definitely worth the hefty price tag for drinks, although you have to book in advance for a time slot. Finally, we got a taxi to Cotto, an Italian Restaurant that is well-known for dealing with gluten free dishes, it was fantastic, another well recommended place! Great, yet tiring day in all.
After work Nick and I went to the London Dungeons and the London Eye! I was very scared for the dungeons, I hate people jumping out on me, but it was amazing! We had such a good time, I definitely screamed a few times, but the rides were awesome, and the actors were very scary and funny. London Eye was great (my third time in two weeks!), though we did see a thunder storm while we were on it, which was a bit unnerving!
Today my sister and I met up for a day out in London. I managed to get another use out of my Merlin Annual Pass (I promise I’m not sponsored!) by going to London Aquarium! It was surprisingly not busy, and was a really nice break from the busy streets of London on a Saturday. We then went to Pizza Hut and ate more food than I thought was possibly. It’s safe to say I don’t fancy pizza again until at least 2013 (this isn’t a promise).
Today I took the first opportunity in using my ‘Merlin Annual Pass‘ and straight after work, I went on the London eye, twice! Once in the day time, while the sun was quite low (4pm), and it was difficult to get any good photos of Big Ben etc. And then again during sunset, which I must add, is the most amazing time to go on the London Eye. I recommend it so much, it was fantastic seeing the city slowly illuminate itself. I was wrapped up in my coat as it was chilly, already loving winter ! Screw the haters, it’s an awesome season. I’m working out a way of using my ‘other blog’ to display extra photos from certain days. So hold tight, these posts shall be expanding soon!
It’s a break day for running today, so I decided to go for a cycle at lunch instead. I was going to head to Piccadilly to pick up my train tickets for friday, but I think it’s too far for an hours trip so I headed to The London Eye again and had a wander round. Stumbled upon Downing Street! And got a lovely sunny photo of the London eye, boiling hot today!
I’ve started to expand my daily cycling route! Currently, I cycle 6 miles a day, 3 miles each way to and from work – takes about 40-45 minutes altogether. Now I’ve started to expand on this, and do a 40 minute cycle at lunch time also! Today I headed to the London Eye, it was the perfect cycle time, and lovely to get some exercise during the day. Starting to plan new routes I can do!
