Nic and I got up at 6.20 this morning to go to Brockwell lido for a swim! There’s nothing quite like seeing your breath as you swim outdoors in 14 degree water… Truthfully though it was actually a fantastic way to start the day, and I’m feeling much better about July’s triathlon.
Slight downside is we went for dinner tonight with friends, where I took this photo of the glorious sky, and I could hardly keep my eyes open. Sleepy Steph!
My housemates and I (although I only did the swim) did a triathlon last weekend – Best of luck! I’m new to open water swimming too but like you, get a real thrill out of it. Brockwell lido is lovely too 🙂
Ooohh how did it go? Our swim part is 750m in The Thames! You have to buy a triathlon wetsuit so that’s next on the list of things to sort out. I’m much less nervous now that I know I can at least do the distance (even if it was slow!)
It was tough not going to lie, but mainly because I positioned myself in the middle of people so everyone was a bit on top of each other at the start – I’d recommend going at the back or side of people if you’re nervous! It went well though – you’ll be absolutely fine – it’s such a good feeling to finish! Piece of advice would be to practice transitions 🙂
Wetsuit definitely worth it – we’re actually going to sign up for a biathlon next month to get more use out of them! Xx
We aren’t allowed to do it without a wetsuit! So we need to do that. Yeah I always hear transitions slow you down, I’m hoping we’ll be able to get some practise in once we get all our things together, though we’re not too fussed on the time for the one, only finishing! 🙂
You’ll be fine – especially if you’re training! Good luck! X
Thank you! 🙂 x
